Veterinary Assistant

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with animals, an understanding of the medical terminology and procedures used in a veterinary practice, and the ability to provide exceptional customer service.To be successful in this role, the Veterinary Assistant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, prior experience working in a veterinary office, the ability to multitask, and a friendly and compassionate demeanor. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess knowledge of computers and be able to use the software programs utilized in a veterinary office.

Responsibilities:

1. Greet clients and pets warmly and provide exceptional customer service.
2. Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals, including giving medications, collecting samples, and performing minor treatments.
3. Prepare exam and treatment rooms, stock supplies, and maintain cleanliness.
4. Assist in laboratory procedures such as collecting samples and performing fecal tests.
5. Provide education to clients about pet health and wellness.
6. Monitor vital signs of animals in the clinic.
7. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
8. Operate and maintain veterinary office equipment.
9. Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by a Veterinarian.
10. Assist in the reception area by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and other clerical duties.
