Veterinary Assistant

Responsibilities:

• Assist veterinarians and other veterinary personnel in providing medical care to animals, including prepping animals for exam, taking vital signs, restraining animals during exams, and administering medications as instructed

• Maintain and clean all examination and treatment rooms, including stocking necessary medical supplies

• Assist clients with check-in and check-out processes, ensuring necessary paperwork is completed and all fees are collected

• Maintain accurate patient records and medical files

• Provide support to veterinarians during surgery and other medical procedures

• Handle laboratory samples from animals, such as blood and urine samples

• Monitor animals after treatment or surgery, ensuring they remain stable and comfortable

• Assist in restraining animals for grooming and bathing

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including washing and sterilizing medical instruments

• Educate clients on pet care and general health topics, such as nutrition, parasite control, and proper handling

• Respond to client questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner
