
Triage Assistant – Emergency Department

- Greeting and welcoming patients as they enter the Emergency Department.
- Providing compassionate and efficient triage services to patients in need.
- Acting as the first point of contact for patients, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported during their visit.
- Communicating with patients to gather necessary information, including symptoms and medical history.
- Assisting in prioritizing patients based on their condition and level of urgency.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure timely and appropriate care for patients.
- Maintaining accurate and organized patient records in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Remaining calm and composed under pressure, while managing a high volume of patients and potential emergencies.
- Providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during times of distress.
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures.
- Adhering to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure the well-being of patients and staff.
- Participating in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on best practices and procedures.
- Maintaining a positive and professional demeanor while representing Atrium Health to patients and visitors.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless and efficient patient experience.
- Upholding the mission, vision, and values of Atrium Health in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and the community.
Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, Along With Completion Of A Certified Medical Assistant Program. Additional Training In Emergency Medicine And Triage Protocols Is Preferred.
Experience: At Least 2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In An Emergency Department Or Urgent Care Setting. Experience With Triage Procedures And Electronic Medical Records Systems Is Highly Desirable.
Strong Communication Skills: Excellent Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For A Triage Assistant. They Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Their Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment.
Attention To Detail: Triage Assistants Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail In Order To Accurately Assess And Document Patient Symptoms, Vital Signs, And Medical Histories. They Must Also Be Able To Quickly Recognize And Report Any Changes In A Patient's Condition.
Team Player: A Triage Assistant Must Be Able To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team, Including Physicians, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals. They Must Be Able To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively In A Team-Oriented Environment.
