  1. Conduct tissue typing tests to accurately determine human leukocyte antigen (HLA) compatibility between organ donors and recipients.
  2. Analyze and interpret test results, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  3. Collaborate with other members of the transplant team to determine the best course of action for organ transplantation.
  4. Maintain detailed records of tissue typing results and communicate them to relevant parties.
  5. Ensure compliance with all laboratory procedures and regulations.
  6. Troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during testing.
  7. Monitor and maintain the quality control and assurance of tissue typing procedures.
  8. Train and educate other laboratory staff on tissue typing techniques and procedures.
  9. Continuously stay updated on advancements and changes in tissue typing technology and techniques.
  10. Provide exceptional patient care by communicating test results and answering any questions or concerns.
  11. Participate in research projects and contribute to the development of new tissue typing techniques and procedures.
  12. Adhere to safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  13. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and timely organ transplantation.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of work.
  15. Represent Atrium Health in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Biology, Genetics, Or Medical Technology.

  • Certification From The American Society For Histocompatibility And Immunogenetics (Ashi).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience In A Clinical Laboratory Performing Tissue Typing And Histocompatibility Testing.

  • Proficiency In Various Laboratory Techniques And Instrumentation Used For Tissue Typing, Such As Flow Cytometry, Pcr, And Hla Antibody Testing.

  • Strong Understanding Of Human Anatomy And Immunology, As Well As Knowledge Of Transplant Protocols And Regulations.
