1. Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and instruments for procedures, ensuring they are clean, functional, and properly sterilized.
2. Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the operating room is set up and ready for procedures.
3. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when counting surgical supplies and instruments before and after procedures.
4. Assist with positioning and prepping patients for surgery, ensuring they are comfortable and safe.
5. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures and provide necessary supplies and instruments in a timely manner.
6. Monitor and document patient vital signs and alert the surgical team of any changes.
7. Handle and dispose of surgical specimens according to established protocols.
8. Continuously maintain a safe and sterile environment in the operating room.
9. Follow all hospital and department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
10. Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with new techniques and technology in surgical technology.
11. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
12. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide reassurance and address any concerns they may have.
13. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
14. Provide support and guidance to less experienced surgical technologists and students.
