
Surgical Technologist II

- Prepare and maintain surgical equipment and instruments for procedures, ensuring they are clean, functional, and properly sterilized.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure the operating room is set up and ready for procedures.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when counting surgical supplies and instruments before and after procedures.
- Assist with positioning and prepping patients for surgery, ensuring they are comfortable and safe.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures and provide necessary supplies and instruments in a timely manner.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and alert the surgical team of any changes.
- Handle and dispose of surgical specimens according to established protocols.
- Continuously maintain a safe and sterile environment in the operating room.
- Follow all hospital and department policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with new techniques and technology in surgical technology.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide reassurance and address any concerns they may have.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced surgical technologists and students.
- Adhere to Atrium Health's values and standards of behavior, treating all patients and team members with respect and compassion.
Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technologist Program: Candidates Should Have Received Formal Training And Education In Surgical Technology From An Accredited Program.
Certification As A Surgical Technologist: Atrium Health Requires All Surgical Technologist Ii Candidates To Hold A Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) Credential From The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa).
Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working As A Surgical Technologist In An Acute Care Setting.
Knowledge Of Surgical Equipment And Procedures: Candidates Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of Surgical Instruments, Equipment, And Procedures, As Well As The Ability To Anticipate The Needs Of Surgeons During Procedures.
Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Atrium Health Values Candidates Who Are Able To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With Various Members Of The Surgical Team, Including Surgeons, Nurses, And Anesthesiologists.
