  1. Provide exceptional and compassionate care to patients with orthopedic needs.
  2. Utilize expertise in orthopedic nursing to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  3. Maintain a high level of professionalism and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  5. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures according to established protocols and guidelines.
  6. Monitor and document patient progress and communicate any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare team members.
  7. Educate patients and their families on post-operative care, rehabilitation, and disease prevention.
  8. Ensure patient safety and comfort at all times.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  10. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  11. Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients.
  12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices.
  13. Act as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.
  14. Attend staff meetings and participate in continuing education to stay current on best practices and advancements in orthopedic nursing.
  15. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
  16. Foster a positive and supportive work environment.
  17. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  18. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  19. Serve as a resource and mentor to new and less experienced staff.
  20. Continuously strive for excellence in patient care and customer service.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses In The Orthopedics Department To Have A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing. This Ensures That The Nurse Has A Comprehensive Understanding Of Nursing Principles And Has Received Specialized Training In Orthopedic Care.

  • Current Registered Nurse (Rn) License: All Candidates Must Possess A Current Rn License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. This License Ensures That The Nurse Has Met The State's Requirements For Education And Competency In Nursing.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Orthopedic Nursing: Atrium Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience In An Orthopedic Setting. This Experience Allows The Nurse To Be Familiar With Common Orthopedic Conditions, Treatments, And Procedures.

  • Bls And Acls Certification: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses To Be Certified In Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls). These Certifications Ensure That The Nurse Is Prepared To Handle Emergency Situations That May Arise In An Orthopedic Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As An Orthopedic Nurse, Effective Communication With Patients, Their Families, And The Healthcare Team Is Essential.
