- Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients in the labor and delivery department.
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Educate patients and families on prenatal and postpartum care, including breastfeeding, newborn care, and postpartum depression.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families during the labor and delivery process.
- Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby during and after delivery.
- Identify and respond to any complications or emergencies that may arise during labor and delivery.
- Communicate effectively with physicians, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care and status.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Participate in continuing education and training to maintain and improve clinical skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to providing high-quality and compassionate care to all patients.
Valid Rn License: Atrium Health Requires All Applicants For A Registered Nurse, Labor And Delivery Position To Hold A Valid And Current Rn License In The State Of Employment.
Labor And Delivery Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Labor And Delivery Unit Is Preferred. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Labor And Delivery Process, As Well As Experience With Various Aspects Of Maternal And Newborn Care.
Bls And Acls Certification: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses To Be Certified In Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls). These Certifications Are Essential For Providing Immediate And Effective Care In Emergency Situations.
Knowledge Of Electronic Medical Records: Atrium Health Utilizes Electronic Medical Records, And Candidates Should Be Familiar With Navigating And Documenting In This System.
Teamwork And Communication Skills: Labor And Delivery Nurses Work Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Physicians, Midwives, And Support Staff.
