  1. Provide exceptional care to patients undergoing heart and vascular surgery.
  2. Work closely with highly skilled surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
  3. Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and assist with surgical procedures.
  4. Educate patients and their families about their surgical procedures and post-operative care.
  5. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including pre- and post-operative assessments and progress notes.
  6. Monitor and assess patients for any potential complications and take appropriate action.
  7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  8. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as legal and ethical standards.
  9. Continuously update knowledge and skills related to cardiovascular nursing through ongoing education and training.
  10. Demonstrate compassion, empathy, and sensitivity towards patients and their families during a stressful and vulnerable time.
  11. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  12. Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients before, during, and after surgery.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support the department in achieving optimal patient outcomes.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient privacy at all times.
  15. Act as a patient advocate and provide emotional support to patients and their families.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses In The Heart & Vascular Surgery Department To Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing. This Demonstrates A Solid Foundation In Nursing Principles And Prepares The Nurse For The Complexities Of Caring For Patients In A Highly Specialized Surgery Unit.

  • Current And Valid Rn License: Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses To Have A Current And Valid License To Practice In The State Where The Hospital Is Located. This Ensures That The Nurse Has Met All State Requirements For Education And Competency And Is Authorized To Practice As A Healthcare Professional.

  • Acls And Bls Certification: As A Specialized Unit, The Heart & Vascular Surgery Department At Atrium Health Requires All Registered Nurses To Have Current Certifications In Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) And Basic Life Support (Bls). These Certifications Demonstrate The Nurse's Ability To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Life-Saving Interventions In A Fast-Paced Surgical Environment.

  • Prior Experience In Cardiovascular Nursing: Atrium Health Prefers Candidates For The Registered Nurse-Heart & Vascular Surgery Position To Have Previous Experience In Cardiovascular Nursing. This Allows The Nurse To Hit The Ground Running And Quickly Adapt To The Unique Needs Of Patients Undergoing Heart And Vascular Surgeries.

  • Strong Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: Working In A High-Stress Surgical Unit, Registered Nurses In The Heart & Vascular Surgery Department Must Have Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills. They Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Team Members, And Make Quick And Sound Decisions To Ensure The Best Outcomes For Their Patients.
