
Ocular Recovery Coordinator

As an Ocular Recovery Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in the donation and transplantation process by coordinating the recovery of corneal and ocular tissue for transplant. This role requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team. - Coordinate the recovery process for corneal and ocular tissue from potential donors.
- Communicate with donor families and healthcare providers to ensure understanding and consent for donation.
- Follow established protocols and guidelines for tissue recovery, handling, and transportation.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all recovery activities.
- Collaborate with other members of the donation and transplantation team, including surgeons and recovery technicians.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of recovered tissue to maintain its viability for transplant.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours recoveries.
- Provide education and support to donor families, healthcare providers, and community members about the importance of donation.
- Stay up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to tissue donation and transplantation.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of the job.
- Serve as a liaison between Atrium Health and other organizations involved in the donation and transplantation process.
- Attend meetings and trainings as required to enhance knowledge and skills related to ocular recovery.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of care for patients.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to protect both patients and staff from potential hazards.
- Represent Atrium Health in a professional and compassionate manner at all times.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Biology, Or A Related Field
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Eye Banking Or Organ/Tissue Recovery
Certified Eye Bank Technician (Cebt) Certification Preferred
Knowledge And Understanding Of Fda And Ebaa Regulations And Standards
Strong Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Independently And In A Team Environment.
