- Perform various histology techniques, including tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and slide preparation.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in accordance with established protocols and safety regulations.
- Conduct routine and specialized tests on tissue samples to identify and analyze skin conditions.
- Accurately record and document test results, maintaining thorough and organized records.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including dermatologists and pathologists, to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment plans for patients.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and precision of test results.

Bachelor's Degree In Histology Or Related Field: Atrium Health Requires All Histotechnologists To Have At Least A Bachelor's Degree In Histology Or A Related Field. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Understanding Of The Principles And Techniques Used In Histology, As Well As A Strong Foundation In Biology And Chemistry.
Certification As A Histotechnologist (Ht) Or Histotechnician (Htl): Atrium Health Prefers Candidates Who Have Obtained Certification As A Histotechnologist Or Histotechnician From The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp). This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Passed A Comprehensive Exam And Has Met Certain Education And Experience Requirements.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Dermatopathology: Atrium Health Requires Candidates To Have At Least 2 Years Of Experience Specifically In Dermatopathology. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Unique Challenges And Techniques Involved In Processing Skin Tissue Samples.
