  1. Operate and maintain ECMO equipment in accordance with standard protocols and procedures.
  2. Monitor patient vital signs and ECMO machine parameters to ensure safe and effective treatment.
  3. Administer medications and fluids as prescribed by the treating physician.
  4. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans for patients on ECMO.
  5. Assess patient responses to ECMO therapy and make adjustments as needed.
  6. Educate patients and their families on the purpose and function of ECMO treatment.
  7. Provide emotional support to patients and their families during the ECMO process.
  8. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and in a timely manner.
  9. Ensure proper infection control measures are followed to prevent complications.
  10. Stay current on advancements and changes in ECMO technology and treatment protocols.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes.
  12. Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
  13. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  14. Serve as a resource and mentor to other healthcare team members regarding ECMO therapy.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of ECMO.

Job Qualifications
  • Education And Training: A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Or A Related Field Is Required. Additional Training And Certification In Ecmo Is Preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Critical Care, Specifically In Areas Such As Icu, Cardiac Care, Or Emergency Department. Experience With Ecmo Equipment And Procedures Is Highly Desirable.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency In Operating And Troubleshooting Ecmo Equipment, Including Cannulation, Circuit Management, And Blood Gas Analysis. Familiarity With Related Technology, Such As Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (Crrt) And Ventricular Assist Devices (Vad), Is Also Desirable.

  • Critical Thinking And Problem Solving: Ability To Assess Patient Needs And Make Quick And Accurate Decisions In Emergency Situations. Must Be Able To Anticipate And Troubleshoot Potential Complications And Respond Appropriately.

  • Teamwork And Communication: Must Demonstrate Strong Interpersonal Skills And The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team. Effective Communication With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Professionals Is Essential.
