Currently, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cytogenetic Technologist to join our team. As a Cytogenetic Technologist at Atrium Health, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and treating genetic disorders through the analysis of chromosomes and DNA. Our ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field, as well as certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).   1. Perform cytogenetic testing on patient samples using various techniques and instrumentation.
  2. Accurately analyze and interpret test results, and report findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  3. Maintain strict adherence to laboratory protocols and quality control standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  4. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  5. Keep accurate and organized records of all test results and ensure timely completion of all required documentation.
  6. Participate in research and development projects to improve laboratory processes and techniques.
  7. Stay current with the latest advancements in cytogenetic testing and attend relevant conferences and workshops.
  8. Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  9. Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  10. Provide guidance and training to new laboratory staff and students as needed.
  11. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  12. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  13. Maintain professional development and certification requirements.
  14. Assist with inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Atrium Health and uphold the highest standards of patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Biology, Or Related Field.

  • Certification As A Cytogenetic Technologist (Cg(Ascp)) Through The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).

  • Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience In A Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory.

  • Knowledge Of Cytogenetic Techniques, Including Chromosome Analysis, Fish, And Microarray Analysis.

  • Ability To Accurately Interpret And Report Cytogenetic Test Results, And Maintain Detailed Records And Documentation.
