- Perform cytogenetic testing on patient samples using various techniques and instrumentation.
- Accurately analyze and interpret test results, and report findings to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain strict adherence to laboratory protocols and quality control standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
- Keep accurate and organized records of all test results and ensure timely completion of all required documentation.
- Participate in research and development projects to improve laboratory processes and techniques.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in cytogenetic testing and attend relevant conferences and workshops.
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide guidance and training to new laboratory staff and students as needed.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain professional development and certification requirements.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of laboratory supplies.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Atrium Health and uphold the highest standards of patient care.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Biology, Or Related Field.
Certification As A Cytogenetic Technologist (Cg(Ascp)) Through The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Minimum Of Two Years Of Experience In A Clinical Cytogenetics Laboratory.
Knowledge Of Cytogenetic Techniques, Including Chromosome Analysis, Fish, And Microarray Analysis.
Ability To Accurately Interpret And Report Cytogenetic Test Results, And Maintain Detailed Records And Documentation.
