
Coder - Inpatient Coding

- Accurately code patient records using appropriate coding guidelines and software.
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of coding.
- Assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes to reflect the patient's medical condition and treatment.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies or missing information in the medical records.
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Communicate with billing and reimbursement departments to resolve any coding-related issues.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in training and educational sessions to improve coding skills and knowledge.
- Work efficiently and meet coding productivity standards set by the organization.
- Assist in the development and implementation of coding policies and procedures.
- Identify and report any potential coding or documentation issues to the appropriate parties.
- Uphold the values and standards of Atrium Health in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a resource for other team members and provide support or guidance as needed.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives related to coding processes and accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of coded medical records and documentation.
- Comply with all coding and billing regulations, including insurance requirements and government guidelines.
Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Credentials From Ahima.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Inpatient Coding, Preferably In A Hospital Setting.
Proficiency In Icd-10-Cm And Icd-10-Pcs Coding Systems.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, And Physiology.
Familiarity With Cms Regulations And Guidelines Related To Inpatient Coding, Including Drg Assignment And Reimbursement Methodologies.
