
Child Life Specialist

- Develop and implement age-appropriate interventions and activities to meet the psychosocial, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create individualized plans for each patient based on their medical needs and personal interests.
- Provide emotional support and therapeutic play opportunities to patients and their families to help them cope with the challenges of hospitalization.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment for children and families, ensuring their comfort and privacy.
- Educate and prepare children for medical procedures using developmentally appropriate language and techniques.
- Work with families to address any concerns or questions they may have and provide resources and support as needed.
- Document and maintain accurate records of patient interactions and progress.
- Serve as an advocate for the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and collaborate with medical staff to ensure their overall well-being.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and meetings to provide input and support for patients' care plans.
- Keep up-to-date with current research and best practices in child life services to continuously improve patient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and patient confidentiality.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude when interacting with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of child life interventions and make necessary adjustments to meet the changing needs of patients.
- Participate in community outreach and education initiatives to promote the role of child life services and raise awareness about pediatric healthcare.
Bachelor's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field
Certification As A Child Life Specialist From The Association Of Child Life Professionals
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Pediatric Healthcare Setting
Strong Knowledge Of Child Development And Family Dynamics
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Healthcare Teams And Support Families
