  1. Provide nursing care to individuals, families, and communities in accordance with public health principles and practices.
  2. Conduct health assessments and screenings to identify health needs and risks within the community.
  3. Develop and implement health education programs and initiatives to promote healthy behaviors and prevent disease.
  4. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and community organizations to address public health concerns and promote a coordinated approach to healthcare.
  5. Provide counseling and support to individuals and families on disease prevention, management, and treatment.
  6. Administer vaccinations and medication as needed to prevent and control communicable diseases.
  7. Conduct home visits and outreach programs to reach underserved populations and promote access to healthcare services.
  8. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of healthcare services provided and report any findings or concerns to appropriate authorities.
  9. Participate in disaster preparedness and emergency response efforts to ensure the health and safety of the community.
  10. Stay informed about current public health trends, research, and best practices to continuously improve the quality of care provided.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  12. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to identify and address any gaps or areas for improvement in the public health system.
  13. Act as a resource and advocate for individuals and families in the community, providing information and referrals to appropriate resources as needed.
  14. Attend and actively participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences related to public health and nursing.
  15. Uphold the mission and values of Atlantic County while representing the organization in a professional and positive manner.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Public Health Nurse Position. Some Positions May Require A Master's Degree In Public Health Or A Related Field.

  • Active Nursing License: All Candidates Must Have An Active And Unrestricted Nursing License In The State Of New Jersey. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Qualified To Practice Nursing And Can Provide Care To Patients.

  • Public Health Experience: Candidates Should Have Experience Working In A Public Health Setting Or Have Completed A Public Health Nursing Rotation During Their Education. This Will Demonstrate An Understanding Of The Unique Challenges And Responsibilities Of Working In Public Health.

  • Knowledge Of Community Health: Public Health Nurses Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Community Health Needs And Resources. This Includes Knowledge Of Local Health Systems, Social Determinants Of Health, And Cultural Competencies.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial For Working With Diverse Populations And Collaborating With Community Partners. Public Health Nurses Must Also Have Strong Interpersonal Skills To Build Relationships And Trust With Clients And Community Members.
