Responsibilities:

  1. Provide compassionate and high-quality medical care to animals in Atlantic County.
  2. Assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of animal health conditions.
  3. Administer medications and perform medical procedures as directed by a veterinarian.
  4. Maintain accurate and detailed records of animal health and treatment.
  5. Communicate effectively with pet owners, colleagues, and other professionals regarding animal health and treatment plans.
  6. Educate pet owners on proper animal care and hygiene to promote animal well-being.
  7. Handle and restrain animals safely and with care during examinations and procedures.
  8. Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of animal enclosures and treatment areas.
  9. Assist with the intake and adoption process for animals in need of homes.
  10. Collaborate with other animal health professionals to ensure the well-being and safety of all animals in our care.
  11. Stay updated on current trends and advancements in animal health and incorporate them into daily practices.
  12. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe work environment for both animals and staff.
  13. Participate in community outreach and education programs to promote responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Education And Training: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, And Candidates Must Have Completed A Veterinary Technician Program Or Possess An Associate's Degree In Animal Science Or A Related Field.

  • Veterinary Knowledge And Skills: Candidates Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Animal Health And Behavior, As Well As The Ability To Perform Routine Procedures Such As Administering Medications, Taking Vital Signs, And Assisting With Surgeries.

  • Experience: Previous Experience Working In A Veterinary Clinic Or Animal Shelter Is Preferred. Candidates Should Have Experience Handling And Caring For A Variety Of Animals, As Well As Knowledge Of Common Diseases And Treatments.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Animal Health Technicians Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Both Clients And Colleagues. They Should Have Strong Interpersonal Skills And Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment.

  • Attention To Detail And Physical Stamina: This Job Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail, As Well As The Ability To Handle Physical Tasks Such As Lifting And Restraining Animals. Candidates Should Also Be Able To Work Long And Irregular Hours, As Well As Weekends And Holidays, As Needed.
