  1. Develop and implement the early clinical development strategy for the oncology portfolio at AstraZeneca.
  2. Lead and direct cross-functional teams to design and execute clinical trials, ensuring alignment with overall development goals and timelines.
  3. Use your strong background and expertise in early clinical development to provide strategic input and guidance on study design, protocol development, and data analysis.
  4. Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including clinical operations, regulatory affairs, and translational medicine, to ensure timely and successful execution of clinical programs.
  5. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and trends in oncology early development and incorporate new techniques and methodologies into the clinical development strategy.
  6. Act as a key medical expert and leader within the oncology team, providing medical oversight and guidance throughout the clinical trial process.
  7. Monitor and analyze clinical trial data to identify potential risks or issues, and develop mitigation strategies as needed.
  8. Maintain a high level of scientific and medical knowledge in the oncology field, including competitive landscape and emerging therapies.
  9. Represent AstraZeneca at scientific conferences and external meetings, presenting clinical data and building relationships with key opinion leaders.
  10. Mentor and develop junior team members and provide guidance and support to colleagues across various departments.
  11. Compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  12. Collaborate with commercial teams to support the development of promotional materials and provide medical expertise in market access and pricing discussions.
  13. Serve as a key point of contact for external partners, such as CROs, academic institutions, and other collaborators, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve the early development process, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency.
  15. Participate in leadership meetings and provide updates on the progress of clinical programs and strategic plans.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Medical Degree: A Senior Medical Director At Astrazeneca Should Possess An Advanced Medical Degree (Md Or Equivalent) From An Accredited Institution. This Qualification Demonstrates A Deep Understanding Of Medical Concepts And Principles In The Field Of Oncology.

  • Extensive Experience In Early Clinical Development: A Senior Medical Director Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Early Clinical Development, Specifically In The Field Of Oncology. This Experience Should Include Designing And Executing Clinical Trials, As Well As Analyzing And Interpreting Data.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: As A Senior Member Of The Team, The Senior Medical Director Should Have Strong Leadership Skills And Be Able To Effectively Manage And Mentor A Team Of Medical Professionals. This Includes The Ability To Delegate Tasks, Provide Feedback, And Make Difficult Decisions When Necessary.

  • Knowledge Of Regulatory Requirements: A Senior Medical Director Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Regulatory Requirements And Guidelines For Clinical Trials, Specifically In The Oncology Field. This Includes Knowledge Of Fda And Ema Regulations, As Well As Ich-Gcp Guidelines.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: Effective Communication And Collaboration Are Essential For Success In This Role. The Senior Medical Director Should Be Able To Communicate Complex Medical Information To Various Stakeholders, Including Cross-Functional Teams, Regulatory Agencies, And External Partners. They Should Also Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Departments, Such As Clinical Operations And Data Management, To Ensure The Success Of Clinical Trials.
