- Lead and manage the Rheumatology Early Research and Innovation (R&I) Clinical Development team at AstraZeneca.
- Develop and implement strategies for the early clinical development of rheumatology treatments.
- Oversee the planning, design, and execution of clinical trials for rheumatology drugs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and guidelines in the development of rheumatology treatments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research, regulatory, and commercial teams, to advance the rheumatology pipeline.
- Provide medical expertise and guidance to the team, including clinical trial design, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Monitor and analyze competitor landscape and market trends to inform development strategies.
- Evaluate and assess potential partnership and collaboration opportunities for the rheumatology portfolio.
- Represent AstraZeneca at scientific conferences and meetings, presenting data and engaging with key opinion leaders.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and developments in rheumatology, and incorporate relevant findings into the development strategies.
- Serve as a key spokesperson for the rheumatology portfolio, both internally and externally, promoting the company's mission and vision.
- Ensure high-quality and timely delivery of all clinical development activities within the rheumatology portfolio.
- Collaborate with the commercial team to develop and execute launch plans for new rheumatology treatments.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Medical Degree: The Executive Medical Director Must Have A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution, With Specialized Training And Board Certification In Rheumatology.
Leadership Experience: This Role Requires A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Position Within The Pharmaceutical Industry, With A Focus On Early Research And Clinical Development In Rheumatology.
Clinical Development Expertise: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Drug Development Process And Experience In Designing And Executing Clinical Trials In The Area Of Rheumatology. Experience With Early-Stage Research And Investigational Medicines Is Preferred.
Strategic Thinking: The Executive Medical Director Must Be Able To Think Strategically And Provide Medical Input To The Development And Implementation Of Clinical Development Plans For Rheumatology Programs. This Includes Identifying Potential Risks And Opportunities, As Well As Providing Recommendations For Optimizing Clinical Trial Design.
Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Role Requires Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Work Effectively With Cross-Functional Teams And External Partners. The Ability To Communicate Complex Medical Information In A Clear And Concise Manner Is Essential.
