Lead and oversee the Hematology Discovery R&D team at AstraZeneca.
Develop and implement strategic plans for the discovery and development of new therapies for hematological malignancies.
Provide scientific and technical guidance to the team and ensure high-quality research and development.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive the team towards success.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical development, regulatory affairs, and commercial teams, to advance projects and achieve company objectives.
Monitor industry trends and developments in the field of hematology and apply relevant knowledge to guide decision-making.
Manage the team's budget and resources effectively to ensure efficient and timely execution of projects.
Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support for their professional growth.
Represent AstraZeneca at scientific conferences, meetings, and other external events to establish and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Act as a spokesperson for AstraZeneca's mission, values, and commitment to improving patient outcomes.
Continuously seek opportunities to enhance and improve the Hematology Discovery R&D team's capabilities and processes.
Work towards achieving and exceeding company goals and targets for the development of novel therapies for hematological malignancies.

Job Qualifications

Advanced Degree In Hematology Or Related Field: A Successful Candidate For The Executive Director, Hematology Discovery R&D Position At Astrazeneca Should Possess An Advanced Degree (Phd Or Md) In Hematology, Oncology, Or A Related Field. This Qualification Ensures A Strong Understanding Of The Scientific Principles And Techniques Necessary For Leading A Research And Development Team In The Field Of Hematology.
Extensive Experience In Drug Discovery And Development: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In The Pharmaceutical Or Biotechnology Industry, With A Proven Track Record Of Success In Leading Drug Discovery And Development Programs. This Includes Experience In Target Identification And Validation, Hit-To-Lead Optimization, And Preclinical And Clinical Development.
Leadership And Team Management Skills: As An Executive Director, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Leading And Managing A Team Of Scientists And Researchers. Therefore, Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Motivate And Inspire Team Members, Delegate Tasks, And Foster Collaboration, Are Essential For Success In This Role.
