Job Description

As a Director of Toxicology at AstraZeneca, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and efficacy of our pharmaceutical products.   1. Develop and implement toxicology strategies to support the safety and efficacy of AstraZeneca's pharmaceutical products.
  2. Manage and oversee preclinical toxicology studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  3. Provide expert toxicology guidance and support to cross-functional teams, including those involved in drug discovery and development.
  4. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and technologies in toxicology research and incorporate them into AstraZeneca's toxicology practices.
  5. Lead and mentor a team of toxicologists, ensuring their professional development and growth.
  6. Collaborate with external partners, such as CROs, to conduct toxicology studies and ensure high-quality data.
  7. Participate in regulatory interactions and submissions related to toxicology assessments.
  8. Conduct risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies for potential toxicological issues.
  9. Work closely with other departments, such as pharmacology and clinical development, to support the overall drug development process.
  10. Represent AstraZeneca in external scientific conferences and meetings related to toxicology.
  11. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve toxicology processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  13. Communicate toxicology findings and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
  14. Collaborate with other functional areas, such as quality assurance and regulatory affairs, to ensure alignment and consistency in toxicology practices.
  15. Maintain accurate and comprehensive toxicology records and documentation.
  16. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback to team members.
  17. Serve as a subject matter expert on toxicology-related matters within the company.
  18. Represent AstraZeneca in toxicology-related interactions with regulatory agencies.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Toxicology: A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Toxicology Or A Related Field Is Required For This Position. A Phd Is Highly Preferred.

  • Extensive Industry Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience Working In The Pharmaceutical Or Biotechnology Industry, With A Focus On Toxicology.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: The Director Of Toxicology Will Be Responsible For Managing A Team Of Toxicologists, So Strong Leadership, Communication, And Organizational Skills Are Essential.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: A Thorough Understanding Of Regulatory Requirements And Guidelines For Toxicology Studies, Including Fda And Ich Guidelines, Is Necessary For This Role.

  • Ability To Drive Innovation: Astrazeneca Is A Company Committed To Innovation And The Director Of Toxicology Should Have A Track Record Of Driving And Implementing New Ideas And Approaches In The Field Of Toxicology.
