Job Description

At Ascension Health, we are looking for an experienced and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. As an integral part of our team, the Technician will help provide quality patient care and complete clinical duties in the ophthalmology department. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, be organized and detail-oriented, and have a professional attitude.The Technician should possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent and have a valid certification from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO). They should have at least two years of experience in ophthalmology and experience working with electronic medical records systems. Previous experience with ophthalmic and visual diagnostic equipment is preferred.If you have the qualifications and passion for providing quality care to our patients, we would love to have you join our team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide compassionate and quality care to patients in the ophthalmology department.
  2. Assist in completing clinical duties, such as patient assessment and preparation, collecting data, and administering tests.
  3. Maintain patient records in the electronic medical records system.
  4. Operate ophthalmic and visual diagnostic equipment.
  5. Educate patients on their condition and their treatment plan.
  6. Communicate with other healthcare professionals and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  7. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
  8. Adhere to all policies and procedures related to the ophthalmology department.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology

  • Bachelor's Degree In Ophthalmology

  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (Cot) Or Equivalent
