  1. Schedule surgical procedures and consultations in a timely and efficient manner, taking into consideration patient preferences, physician availability, and facility resources.
  2. Communicate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate scheduling and answer any questions or concerns.
  3. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for procedures.
  4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date scheduling records and patient information.
  5. Collaborate with other departments within the healthcare facility to ensure smooth and coordinated patient care.
  6. Follow all privacy and confidentiality guidelines when handling sensitive patient information.
  7. Anticipate and troubleshoot any potential scheduling conflicts or issues that may arise.
  8. Stay current on medical terminology and procedures to accurately schedule appointments.
  9. Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, addressing any needs or concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to continually improve scheduling processes and procedures.
  11. Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
  12. Collaborate with billing and coding staff to ensure accurate and timely submission of claims.
  13. Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the overall functioning of the surgical department.
