Job Description

We at Ascension Health are looking for an experienced Surgical Scheduler to join our team! We are a fast-paced and innovative healthcare organization that is dedicated to providing quality care and services to our patients.The ideal candidate for this position will have a passion for patient care, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a strong attention to detail. This individual should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, have a positive attitude, and be able to think on their feet while making quick and accurate decisions. They should also be familiar with medical terminology and have a basic understanding of medical coding and billing procedures. This position requires a high school diploma or GED, as well as two years of experience in a medical setting. An associate or bachelor's degree in health sciences or a related field is preferred.We are looking for a candidate who is ready to take on the challenges of a Surgical Scheduler and help us provide the highest level of care to our patients. Responsibilities of a Surgical Scheduler:

  1. Schedule surgeries and other medical procedures for patients in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. Maintain accurate records of patient information, including demographics, medical history, insurance information, and more.
  3. Manage the pre-surgical process, ensuring all necessary documentation and paperwork is completed and submitted in a timely fashion.
  4. Follow up with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for surgeries and other procedures when necessary.
  5. Manage patient communication, including answering questions and providing updates on scheduling.
  6. Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth coordination of patient care.
  7. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor in all interactions with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
  8. Assist with special projects as needed.
