Job Description

Ascension Health is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, packaging, and sterilizing surgical instruments and other medical equipment. You will also be responsible for performing quality assurance checks and monitoring infection control practices. We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who is passionate about providing quality patient care.The ideal candidate will possess a combination of clinical and technical expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to patient safety. In addition to having a High School Diploma or GED, you must have a minimum of one year of sterile processing experience in a health care setting. Knowledge of infection control protocols, sterilization equipment, and safety practices is a must. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is also essential. Responsibilities:

  1. Clean, decontaminate, package, and sterilize surgical instruments and other medical equipment.
  2. Perform quality assurance checks to ensure medical equipment is properly sterilized.
  3. Monitor infection control practices to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  5. Provide excellent customer service to patients and staff.
  6. Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals.
  7. Maintain detailed records of sterilization processes and infection control protocols.
  8. Operate sterilization equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions.
  9. Respond to any emergency situations in a timely and professional manner.
  10. Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
