Job Description

Ascension Health is searching for a highly motivated and organized Sterile Processing Technician to join our growing team. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will be responsible for preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies for use in the operating room and other clinical areas. We are looking for someone who is passionate about quality patient care and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate should possess a high school diploma or GED, possess a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification, and have a minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting. Additionally, the successful Sterile Processing Technician should have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff. Responsibilities of a Sterile Processing Technician:

  1. Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies for use in the operating room and other clinical areas.
  2. Ensure quality patient care and provide exceptional customer service.
  3. Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and safety standards in the sterile processing department.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all sterilization activities.
  5. Monitor and troubleshoot any issues with sterilization equipment.
  6. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to the sterile processing department.
  7. Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  8. Facilitate and participate in educational activities and training for staff and other healthcare professionals.
  9. Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless patient care.
  10. Work effectively with a team of other sterile processing technicians to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner.
