Job Description

We are looking for an experienced, certified Sr. Abstractor - Certified Tumor Registrar to join the team at Ascension Health. This individual must have a deep understanding of cancer registry policies and procedures, as well as excellent organizational and communication skills. The Sr. Abstractor - Certified Tumor Registrar will be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of cancer data abstracts to ensure compliance with federal, state and accreditation agency requirements. The ideal candidate should possess a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) certification and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a related role. They should be detail-oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Additionally, the Sr. Abstractor - Certified Tumor Registrar should have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with staff and other healthcare professionals. Responsibilities: • Complete cancer data abstracts in an accurate and timely manner according to federal, state and accreditation agency requirements • Monitor cancer registry data for accuracy and completeness • Maintain up to date knowledge of applicable cancer registry regulations and standards • Work collaboratively with staff and other healthcare professionals • Identify and recommend process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency • Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports as needed • Collaborate with other departments to ensure optimal data collection and reporting • Participate in department meetings to provide input and feedback • Respond to inquiries from external and internal stakeholders • Manage projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor
