Job Description

  1. Provide direct health care services to students in a school setting, including assessment, treatment, and management of acute and chronic health conditions.
  2. Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with special medical needs, in collaboration with parents/guardians, physicians, and school staff.
  3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and ensure proper documentation and storage of all medications.
  4. Monitor and evaluate student health and wellness, including conducting health screenings and maintaining accurate health records.
  5. Educate students, parents, and staff on health-related topics, such as hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  6. Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid and emergency care as needed.
  7. Collaborate with school staff and community healthcare providers to promote a healthy school environment.
  8. Participate in the development and implementation of school health policies and procedures.
  9. Serve as a resource for students, parents, and staff regarding health-related concerns and provide referrals to appropriate resources when necessary.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of all student health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  11. Stay current on best practices and developments in pediatric health care and implement them in practice.
  12. Assist in the coordination of immunization programs and other health-related screenings.
  13. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all student interactions and health care services provided.
  14. Adhere to all state and federal regulations related to school nursing practice.
  15. Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of Ascension Health, including a dedication to serving those in need with compassion and respect.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing From An Accredited Institution.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification.

  • Valid Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Employment.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A School Or Pediatric Setting.

  • Knowledge Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To School Nursing, As Well As Current Best Practices In Pediatric Healthcare.
