Job Description

  1. Provide specialized nursing care to premature and critically ill newborns in the NICU.
  2. Monitor and assess the health status of neonatal patients, including vital signs and developmental milestones.
  3. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by physicians.
  4. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
  5. Educate and support families on the care and needs of their neonatal infants.
  6. Utilize advanced equipment and technology to provide the highest level of care to patients.
  7. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
  8. Respond quickly and effectively to any changes in a patient's condition.
  9. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
  10. Continuously update knowledge and skills through ongoing education and training.
  11. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.
  12. Collaborate with community resources and support networks to provide holistic care for patients.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of best practices in the NICU.
  14. Maintain a professional demeanor and foster positive relationships with colleagues, patients, and families.
  15. Comply with all regulatory requirements and maintain licensure and certifications.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Typically Required For A Registered Nurse - Neonatal Critical Care (Nicu) Position At Ascension Health. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For Working In A Specialized Area Such As Nicu.

  • Current Rn License: All Registered Nurses At Ascension Health Must Hold A Current And Active Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. This Ensures That The Nurse Is Qualified And Authorized To Provide Patient Care.

  • Neonatal Critical Care Experience: Ascension Health Typically Requires A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Neonatal Critical Care For Their Nicu Rn Positions. This Experience Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For Caring For Critically Ill Newborns.

  • Bls And Nrp Certifications: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Neonatal Resuscitation Program (Nrp) Certifications Are Required For All Nicu Rn Positions At Ascension Health. These Certifications Ensure That The Nurse Is Trained And Prepared To Handle Emergency Situations In The Nicu.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: As A Nicu Rn At Ascension Health, Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For Providing Quality Care To Critically Ill Newborns And Their Families.
