  1. Provide leadership and direction to a team of healthcare professionals in delivering compassionate and personalized care to patients in need.
  2. Serve as a role model for the nursing staff, exhibiting professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to the mission and values of Ascension Health.
  3. Oversee the daily operations of the unit, ensuring that all patient care activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  4. Make patient assignments and delegate tasks to nursing staff, ensuring that each staff member is working to the top of their scope of practice and within their competency level.
  5. Monitor and assess the quality of patient care provided by the nursing team, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  6. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients, ensuring that their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs are met.
  7. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, communicating patient updates and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
  8. Provide direct patient care as needed, utilizing advanced nursing knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose, and treat patients.
  9. Serve as a resource for nursing staff, providing guidance and support in complex patient care situations, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care, as well as state and federal regulations governing nursing practice.
  11. Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of patient care activities, including assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  12. Act as a liaison between the nursing staff and hospital administration, communicating concerns, issues, and suggestions for improvement in a timely and professional manner.
  13. Participate in performance improvement initiatives, using data and evidence-based practices to drive quality improvement and achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  14. Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring that patients' rights and preferences are respected and their needs are met in a timely and compassionate manner.
  15. Participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of new nursing staff

Job Qualifications
  • Valid Rn License: A Registered Nurse - Charge At Ascension Health Must Hold A Valid And Current Rn License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing.

  • Minimum Education Requirement: Candidates For This Position Must Have A Minimum Of An Associate's Degree In Nursing, But A Bachelor's Degree Is Preferred.

  • Previous Nursing Experience: Ascension Health Requires A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience As A Registered Nurse In A Clinical Setting, With Preference Given To Those With Leadership Or Charge Nurse Experience.

  • Strong Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Charge Nurse, The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Both Patients And Other Healthcare Professionals Is Crucial. Candidates Must Also Demonstrate Strong Leadership Skills And The Ability To Make Quick And Critical Decisions.

  • Knowledge Of Healthcare Regulations And Procedures: Ascension Health Expects Its Charge Nurses To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Healthcare Regulations And Procedures, As Well As The Ability To Stay Updated On Any Changes Or Updates. This Includes Knowledge Of Hipaa, Infection Control, And Emergency Protocols.
