- Provide specialized medical care to children who have experienced abuse and neglect
- Conduct thorough evaluations and assessments of patients to determine appropriate treatment plans
- Develop and implement treatment plans that address the physical, emotional, and psychological needs of abused and neglected children
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, social workers, and law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of patients
- Educate and train other healthcare professionals on identifying and responding to signs of child abuse and neglect
- Serve as an advocate for child welfare and work to improve systems and policies that protect vulnerable children
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records and documentation
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards in the care of patients
- Continuously stay updated on developments and best practices in the field of pediatric child abuse
- Provide support and guidance to patients and their families throughout the treatment process
- Work closely with community organizations and resources to provide comprehensive care for patients
- Contribute to research and publications related to pediatric child abuse and its impact on children and society.
Medical Degree: A Physician Must Have Completed Medical School And Obtained A Doctor Of Medicine (Md) Or Doctor Of Osteopathic Medicine (Do) Degree To Be Eligible For A Pediatric Child Abuse Job At Ascension Health.
Board Certification: Ascension Health Requires Physicians To Be Board Certified In Pediatrics, With A Specific Focus On Child Abuse Pediatrics. This Certification Demonstrates A Physician's Expertise And Knowledge In The Field Of Child Abuse.
Residency Training: As Part Of Their Medical Education, Physicians Must Complete A Residency Program In Pediatrics, Which Typically Lasts 3 Years. A Residency Program Provides Hands-On Training And Experience In Diagnosing And Treating Pediatric Patients.
State Medical License: All Physicians Must Hold A Valid State Medical License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. Ascension Health May Also Require Additional State-Specific Licenses For Physicians Working In Multiple Locations.
Experience In Child Abuse Medicine: Ascension Health Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience In The Field Of Child Abuse Medicine. This May Include Previous Work In A Child Advocacy Center Or Experience In Evaluating And Treating Victims Of Child Abuse.
