- Provide medical expertise and guidance to support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to review and evaluate medical records, treatment plans, and patient outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in clinical processes and outcomes, and develop and implement action plans to address these areas.
- Serve as a liaison between clinical staff and administration, communicating updates and changes in policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance the overall quality and efficiency of healthcare delivery.
- Educate and train clinical staff on best practices and evidence-based guidelines.
- Act as a resource for physicians and other healthcare providers, providing support and guidance on complex medical cases.
- Collaborate with case managers, utilization review staff, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate efficient and appropriate care for patients.
- Stay current on industry developments and best practices, and make recommendations for updates to policies and procedures as needed.
Medical Degree: A Physician Advisor At Ascension Health Must Possess A Medical Degree From An Accredited Medical School, Along With A Valid State Medical License.
Board Certification: Candidates Should Be Board-Certified In A Relevant Medical Specialty, Such As Internal Medicine Or Family Practice, To Demonstrate Their Expertise And Knowledge In The Field.
Clinical Experience: Ascension Health Requires Physician Advisors To Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Clinical Experience, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting, To Understand The Complexities Of The Healthcare System.
Knowledge Of Utilization Management: Physician Advisors Must Possess A Thorough Understanding Of Utilization Management Principles, Including Medical Necessity, Level Of Care Guidelines, And Reimbursement Regulations.
Communication And Leadership Skills: As A Key Liaison Between Medical Staff, Administration, And Payers, Physician Advisors Must Have Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills To Effectively Resolve Conflicts, Negotiate With Payers, And Collaborate With Multidisciplinary Teams.
