- Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from various locations within the facility, including patient rooms, treatment areas, and diagnostic testing areas.
- Assist patients in and out of vehicles, wheelchairs, and stretchers as needed, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare staff to ensure smooth and timely transportation services.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities, including documenting any incidents or delays.
- Monitor patient condition during transport and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Assist with the movement of medical equipment and supplies as needed.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any patient or family concerns and answering questions about the transport process.
- Attend training sessions to maintain and improve knowledge of safe patient handling techniques and procedures.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient and timely patient transportation.
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times, representing the values and mission of Ascension Health.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Patient Transporter At Ascension Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Academics And Can Effectively Communicate With Patients And Healthcare Staff.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Patient Transporter, You Will Be Responsible For Transporting Patients Who May Require Medical Assistance. Therefore, Having A Bls Certification Is Crucial In Case Of Any Medical Emergencies That May Arise During Transportation.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Hospital, Clinic, Or Other Healthcare Facility Is Preferred For A Patient Transporter At Ascension Health. This Experience Demonstrates The Candidate's Understanding Of Healthcare Protocols And Familiarity With Medical Equipment.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Patient Transporters Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Staff. They Should Also Have Good Interpersonal Skills To Provide Comfort And Support To Patients During Transportation.
Physical Fitness And Ability To Lift/Move Patients: This Position Requires The Ability To Lift And Move Patients Of Different Sizes And Weights. Therefore, Candidates For A Patient Transporter Job At Ascension Health Must Be Physically Fit And Capable Of Performing These Tasks Without Risking Injury To Themselves Or The Patient.
