Job Description

Ascension Health is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process.   1. Greet and welcome patients with a friendly and positive attitude as they arrive for appointments or procedures.
  2. Act as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  3. Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into electronic medical records system.
  4. Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services.
  5. Explain and educate patients on the registration process and any necessary forms or documentation needed.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines.
  7. Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process.
  8. Handle patient inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  9. Maintain accurate and organized records of patient information and registration activities.
  10. Stay up-to-date on insurance and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
  11. Assist with scheduling appointments and coordinating patient referrals as needed.
  12. Attend training sessions and meetings to stay current on policies and procedures.
  13. Take initiative to identify and suggest improvements to enhance the patient experience.
  14. Uphold the mission and values of Ascension Health by providing personalized, compassionate care to all patients.
  15. Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Access Representative At Ascension Health Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For A Patient Access Representative To Effectively Interact With Patients, Medical Staff, And Insurance Companies.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Insurance Processes: Familiarity With Medical Terminology And Insurance Processes Is Necessary To Accurately Collect Patient Information And Verify Insurance Coverage.

  • Customer Service Experience: Previous Experience In A Customer Service Role Is Beneficial For A Patient Access Representative As They Will Be Interacting With Patients And Their Families On A Daily Basis.

  • Proficient Computer Skills: The Ability To Navigate Electronic Medical Records And Use Various Software Programs Is Important For A Patient Access Representative To Efficiently Process Patient Information And Insurance Claims.
