- Conduct comprehensive eye assessments and diagnostic tests on patients to evaluate their visual acuity and ocular health.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and patient needs.
- Perform a variety of orthoptic exercises and therapies to improve visual function and eye coordination.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.
- Educate patients and caregivers about eye health and proper care techniques.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements and changes in optometric technology and procedures.
- Adhere to all patient privacy and confidentiality regulations.
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Ascension Health by providing compassionate and personalized care to our patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain professional knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- Represent Ascension Health in a professional and positive manner at all times.
Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Orthoptics Or A Related Field From An Accredited University.
Certification As An Orthoptist By The American Association Of Certified Orthoptists (Aaco).
Previous Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In Ophthalmology Or Optometry.
Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Pediatric And Adult Eye Conditions And Treatments.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
