  1. Assist orthodontists in providing high-quality dental care to patients.
  2. Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for orthodontic procedures.
  3. Take and develop dental x-rays.
  4. Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and care.
  5. Maintain accurate patient records and charts.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and orthodontists.
  7. Monitor patient progress and report any concerns to the orthodontist.
  8. Sterilize and maintain all dental instruments and equipment.
  9. Prepare and deliver orthodontic appliances to patients.
  10. Assist with scheduling and managing patient appointments.
  11. Provide support and comfort to patients during procedures.
  12. Adhere to all infection control and safety protocols.
  13. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and advancements in orthodontic care.
  14. Collaborate with the orthodontist and other team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  15. Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  16. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  17. Continuously strive to improve patient satisfaction and overall experience.
  18. Attend training and educational opportunities as required.
  19. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the orthodontist or practice manager.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Typically Required For An Orthodontic Assistant Position At Ascension Health. This Ensures That Candidates Have A Solid Foundation In Basic Academic Skills And Are Able To Learn And Follow Instructions Effectively.

  • Certification Or Training In Dental Assisting: Ascension Health May Require Candidates To Have Completed A Dental Assisting Training Program And/Or Possess Certification From An Accredited Dental Assisting Program. This Demonstrates That Candidates Have Received Formal Education And Training In The Field Of Dental Assisting, And Are Familiar With The Skills And Knowledge Required For The Job.

  • Experience In Orthodontic Procedures: Experience In Orthodontic Procedures Is Highly Desirable For An Orthodontic Assistant Position At Ascension Health. This Includes Knowledge Of Orthodontic Instruments And Equipment, As Well As The Ability To Assist The Orthodontist During Procedures Such As Braces Placement, Adjustments, And Removal.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As An Orthodontic Assistant, You Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Orthodontists, And Other Dental Team Members On A Daily Basis. Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Rapport With Patients, Ensuring Their Comfort And Addressing Any Concerns They May Have.

  • Knowledge Of Infection Control And Sterilization Procedures: An Orthodontic Assistant Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Infection Control And Sterilization Procedures To Maintain A Safe And Hygienic Dental Environment. Ascension Health May Require Candidates To Have Completed A Course In Infection Control Or Have Prior Experience In A Dental Setting Where These Procedures Are Routinely Followed.
