
Occupational Therapy Assistant

As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping patients achieve their maximum level of independence and functioning. - Implement treatment plans: Collaborate with occupational therapists to implement individualized treatment plans for patients based on their needs and goals.
- Conduct therapy sessions: Lead therapy sessions with patients, following the prescribed treatment plan and using appropriate techniques and equipment.
- Monitor patient progress: Observe and document patient progress and communicate any changes or concerns to the occupational therapist.
- Assist with patient evaluations: Help the occupational therapist conduct initial evaluations and assessments of patients to determine their needs and develop treatment plans.
- Educate patients and caregivers: Provide education to patients and their caregivers on therapeutic techniques and exercises to be done at home to promote progress and independence.
- Maintain equipment and supplies: Ensure therapy equipment and supplies are properly maintained and stocked, and report any issues or needs to the appropriate person.
- Collaborate with healthcare team: Work closely with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of treatment.
- Communicate with patients and families: Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and their families, providing support and answering any questions or concerns they may have.
- Adhere to professional standards: Follow all professional and ethical guidelines, including maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding the code of conduct of Ascension Health.
- Attend trainings and meetings: Participate in professional development opportunities, attend team meetings, and stay updated on new techniques and best practices in occupational therapy.
Associate's Degree In Occupational Therapy Assistant Program From An Accredited Institution.
Valid State License Or Certification As An Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In Occupational Therapy.
Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team And Independently With Minimal Supervision.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interact With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals.
