Certification: A Lab Phlebotomist At Ascension Health Must Possess A Current Certification From A Recognized Accrediting Body, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Healthcare Setting, Preferably In A Primary Care Facility.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures: As A Lab Phlebotomist, You Must Be Familiar With Various Laboratory Procedures, Including Blood Collection Techniques, Handling And Processing Of Specimens, And Understanding Of Laboratory Equipment And Supplies.
Communication Skills: Excellent Communication Skills Are Essential For This Role, As You Will Be Interacting With Patients Daily And Providing Them With Instructions On Blood Collection Procedures And Explaining Test Results.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: The Ability To Pay Close Attention To Detail And Maintain Accuracy While Collecting And Handling Specimens Is Crucial For A Lab Phlebotomist. Errors In Specimen Collection Can Result In Incorrect Test Results, Which Can Have Serious Consequences For Patient Care.
