Job Qualifications
  • Certification And Training: A Lab Phlebotomist At Ascension Health Must Be A Certified Phlebotomist With A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. They Should Also Have Completed A Formal Phlebotomy Training Program And Hold A Current Certification From An Accredited Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Experience: Ascension Health Requires A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Primary Care Setting. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Specific Needs And Protocols Of A Primary Care Facility And Can Confidently Perform All Required Tasks.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures: A Lab Phlebotomist At Ascension Health Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Procedures And Equipment. This Includes Knowledge Of Proper Specimen Collection, Handling, And Processing Techniques, As Well As The Ability To Troubleshoot And Maintain Laboratory Equipment.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Good Communication Skills Are Essential For A Lab Phlebotomist, As They Will Be Interacting With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals On A Daily Basis. They Should Be Able To Explain Procedures To Patients, Accurately Record And Report Test Results, And Effectively Communicate With The Rest Of The Healthcare Team.

  • Attention To Detail: Accuracy Is Crucial In Phlebotomy, As Even Small Errors Can Have A Significant Impact On Patient Care. A Lab Phlebotomist Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail, Ensuring That All Specimens Are Collected And Labeled Correctly, And That All Necessary Documentation Is Completed Accurately And Promptly.
