  1. Conduct genetic counseling sessions with patients and families to assess their risk for inherited conditions and provide emotional support and education on genetic testing and management options.
  2. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and nurses, to provide comprehensive care to patients and families.
  3. Collect and analyze patient and family medical histories to identify potential genetic risks and develop personalized care plans.
  4. Stay up-to-date on current research and advancements in genetics to provide the most accurate and relevant information to patients.
  5. Work closely with laboratory personnel to ensure accurate and timely genetic test results for patients.
  6. Communicate complex genetic information in a clear and understandable manner to patients and their families, taking into consideration their cultural and educational background.
  7. Maintain confidential and accurate patient records, including detailed genetic counseling notes and patient test results.
  8. Serve as a resource and advocate for patients and families, providing support and guidance throughout the genetic testing and decision-making process.
  9. Collaborate with insurance companies to help patients navigate the insurance coverage process for genetic testing and other services.
  10. Participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of genetics and counseling.
  11. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards related to genetic counseling and patient care.
  12. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to genetic counseling services.
  13. Act as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  14. Contribute to the development of educational materials and resources for patients and healthcare professionals on genetic conditions and testing.
  15. Foster a positive and compassionate environment for patients and families, providing emotional support and empathy throughout their genetic counseling journey.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.

  • Certification From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc) Or The American Board Of Medical Genetics And Genomics (Abmgg).

  • Experience In Providing Genetic Counseling For A Wide Range Of Genetic Conditions And Disorders.

  • Knowledge Of Current Genetic Testing Technologies, Interpretation Of Results, And Ability To Communicate Complex Genetic Information To Patients And Families.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, As Well As Empathy And Sensitivity When Working With Patients And Families Facing Genetic Risks And Challenges.
