Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling Or Related Field: Ascension Health Requires All Genetic Counselors To Have A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling Or A Related Field Such As Genetics, Biology, Or Psychology. This Advanced Education Ensures That Candidates Have A Strong Foundation In Genetics And Counseling Techniques.

  • Board Certification From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling (Abgc): Ascension Health Prefers Candidates Who Are Board Certified By The Abgc. This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met Rigorous Standards Of Education And Experience In The Field Of Genetic Counseling.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: To Be Successful In A Genetic Counselor Role At Ascension Health, Candidates Should Have Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Genetics Department Or Genetic Counseling Practice. This Experience Demonstrates A Candidate's Ability To Work With Patients And Families, Handle Sensitive Information, And Provide Accurate And Compassionate Genetic Counseling.
