Job Description

  1. Develop and implement therapeutic interventions to help children and families cope with the challenges of illness, injury, and hospitalization.
  2. Utilize knowledge of child development and family dynamics to create individualized treatment plans for each patient.
  3. Collaborate with medical staff to provide comprehensive care for patients and families.
  4. Utilize various techniques, such as play therapy, to help children express their emotions and promote healing.
  5. Provide emotional support and guidance to families throughout their child’s hospitalization.
  6. Educate and train medical staff on the importance of child life services and the impact it has on patient care.
  7. Coordinate and facilitate activities and events for pediatric patients to promote socialization and normalcy during their hospital stay.
  8. Conduct assessments to identify the unique needs of each patient and develop appropriate interventions.
  9. Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and documentation of interventions and progress.
  10. Stay updated on current research and trends in child life services to continuously improve patient care.
  11. Advocate for the needs and rights of pediatric patients and families within the healthcare system.
  12. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to provide input and support for patient care plans.
  13. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure a positive and supportive environment.
  14. Follow all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control measures, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff.
  15. Continuously evaluate and monitor the effectiveness of interventions and make necessary adjustments to ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.

Job Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Child Life, Child Development, Or A Related Field.

  • Certification As A Child Life Specialist (Ccls) Through The Association Of Child Life Professionals (Aclp).

  • Experience Working With Children And Families In A Healthcare Setting.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, Including The Ability To Work With A Multidisciplinary Team.

  • Knowledge Of Child Development, Coping Strategies, And Play Therapy Techniques To Support Children In A Medical Environment.
