- Perform surgical technology procedures in accordance with established protocols and standards.
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
- Assist surgeons and other healthcare team members during surgical procedures.
- Ensure proper sterilization and infection control protocols are followed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of surgical procedures and patient information.
- Demonstrate knowledge and expertise in surgical equipment and technology.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
- Continuously update and maintain knowledge of current surgical techniques and technology.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being during procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to provide excellent patient care.
- Maintain a professional and compassionate attitude towards patients and colleagues.
- Attend continuing education and training programs to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Completion Of An Accredited Surgical Technology Program: Candidates Must Have Completed A Formal Education Program In Surgical Technology That Is Accredited By The Commission On Accreditation Of Allied Health Education Programs (Caahep) Or The Accrediting Bureau Of Health Education Schools (Abhes).
Certification Through The National Board Of Surgical Technology And Surgical Assisting (Nbstsa): Candidates Must Hold A Current Certification As A Certified Surgical Technologist (Cst) Through The Nbstsa.
Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Surgical Procedures And Be Familiar With The Instruments, Equipment, And Supplies Used In The Operating Room.
Ability To Maintain A Sterile Environment: Certified Surgical Technologists Must Be Able To Maintain A Sterile Environment In The Operating Room By Following Strict Infection Control Protocols And Procedures.
Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills: Successful Candidates Should Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Members Of The Surgical Team. They Should Also Be Able To Work Well In A Fast-Paced, High-Pressure Environment And Collaborate With Others To Ensure Successful Surgical Outcomes.
