Completion Of A State-Approved Medication Assistant Training Program: Candidates For A Certified Medication Assistant (Cma) Position At Ascension Health Must Have Successfully Completed A State-Approved Medication Assistant Training Program. This Ensures That They Have Received The Necessary Education And Training To Safely And Accurately Administer Medications To Patients.
Active Certification As A Medication Assistant: In Addition To Completing A Training Program, Cmas At Ascension Health Must Also Hold An Active Certification As A Medication Assistant. This Certification Is Typically Obtained Through Passing A State Exam And Demonstrates The Individual's Knowledge And Competency In Medication Administration.
Knowledge Of Medication Safety And Best Practices: Cmas At Ascension Health Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Medication Safety Protocols And Best Practices. This Includes Knowledge Of Proper Medication Storage, Handling, And Administration Techniques, As Well As The Ability To Identify And Report Potential Medication Errors.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Prior Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Long-Term Care Facility, Is Often Required For A Cma Position At Ascension Health. This Experience Provides Candidates With A Foundational Understanding Of Healthcare Practices And Procedures, As Well As The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And Dynamic Environment.
