- Prepare patients for procedures and surgeries, including taking vital signs and obtaining medical histories.

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.

Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: A Certified Medical Assistant - Surgery At Ascension Health Must Have Completed A Recognized Medical Assistant Program, Such As Those Accredited By The Commission On Accreditation Of Allied Health Education Programs (Caahep) Or The Accrediting Bureau Of Health Education Schools (Abhes).
Certification As A Medical Assistant: To Be Considered For The Certified Medical Assistant - Surgery Position At Ascension Health, Candidates Must Hold A Current Certification As A Certified Medical Assistant (Cma) Through The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Or The American Medical Technologists (Amt).
Experience In A Surgical Setting: Ascension Health Prefers Candidates For Their Certified Medical Assistant - Surgery Position To Have Experience Working In A Surgical Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Outpatient Surgery Center. This Experience Should Include Knowledge Of Surgical Procedures And Equipment, As Well As Familiarity With Sterile Techniques And Infection Control Protocols.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Certified Medical Assistant - Surgery At Ascension Health, The Ability To Communicate Effectively And Work Well With Others Is Essential. Candidates Should Have Strong Communication Skills, Both Verbal And Written, And The Ability To Interact With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals In A Professional And Compassionate Manner.
Knowledge Of Electronic Health Records (Ehr): Ascension Health Utilizes Electronic Health Records (Ehr) To Maintain Patient Records, And Therefore, Requires Their Certified Medical Assistant - Surgery Candidates To Have Proficiency In Using Ehr Systems.
