Job Description

Ascension Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and supporting the overall operations of our medical facility.   1. Provide compassionate and high-quality patient care in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
  2. Assist healthcare providers in examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  3. Administer medications and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers.
  4. Perform and document patient intake, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including electronic health records.
  6. Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment for patients and staff.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  8. Educate patients on their medical conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques.
  9. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure continuity of care.
  11. Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay updated on industry best practices.
  12. Support the overall operations of the medical facility, including administrative tasks and supply management.
  13. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Ascension Health in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
  14. Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines, including HIPAA regulations.
  15. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  16. Handle difficult and sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  17. Continuously strive to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care.
  18. Attend team meetings and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  19. Keep abreast of industry trends and developments, and make recommendations for improvements to processes and procedures.
  20. Represent Ascension Health in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of An Accredited Medical Assistant Program: A Certified Medical Assistant At Ascension Health Should Have Completed A Formal Education Program From An Accredited Institution. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Received The Necessary Training And Has A Strong Foundation In Medical Assisting Skills.

  • Current Certification As A Medical Assistant: Ascension Health Requires All Certified Medical Assistants To Have A Current Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The American Association Of Medical Assistants (Aama) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha). This Certification Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Met National Standards For Competency And Knowledge In The Field.

  • Experience In A Clinical Setting: Ascension Health Prefers Candidates With Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Setting, Such As A Hospital, Physician's Office, Or Outpatient Clinic. This Experience Helps The Candidate To Be Familiar With Medical Procedures, Terminology, And Patient Care Protocols.

  • Knowledge Of Electronic Health Records (Ehrs): With The Increasing Use Of Electronic Health Records, It Is Important For A Certified Medical Assistant At Ascension Health To Have Experience And Proficiency In Working With Ehrs. This Includes Documenting Patient Information, Scheduling Appointments, And Managing Patient Records.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Certified Medical Assistant At Ascension Health, The Candidate Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Physicians, And Other Healthcare Professionals. Therefore, It Is Essential To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Individuals Of Diverse Backgrounds And Build Positive Relationships.
