- Provide direct care and support to individuals with mental health concerns in a compassionate and empathetic manner.
- Implement treatment plans and interventions under the supervision of a licensed clinician.
- Monitor and document patient behaviors and progress.
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Utilize crisis intervention techniques as needed.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and provide input on patient care.

Relevant Education: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Or A Related Field Is Required For This Role. A Higher Level Of Education, Such As A Master's Degree, May Also Be Preferred.
Experience In Behavioral Health: Prior Experience Working In A Behavioral Health Setting, Such As A Psychiatric Hospital, Mental Health Clinic, Or Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, Is Highly Desirable. This Experience Should Include Direct Patient Care And The Ability To Handle Complex And Challenging Behaviors.
Certification And Licensure: Depending On The State And Specific Role, Certification Or Licensure May Be Required For A Behavioral Health Technician - Psych Position. Common Certifications Include Certified Alcohol And Drug Counselor (Cadc) Or Certified Mental Health Technician (Cmht).
Knowledge Of Behavioral Health Conditions: Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Behavioral Health Conditions, Including Mental Illnesses, Substance Abuse Disorders, And Developmental Disabilities. This Knowledge Will Be Essential In Providing Appropriate Care And Support To Patients.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Effective Communication And The Ability To Build Rapport With Patients And Their Families Are Crucial For Success In This Role. Behavioral Health Technicians Must Be Able To Listen Actively, Communicate Clearly, And Demonstrate Empathy And Understanding.
