Job Description

Ascension Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Technician to join our team.   1. Provide direct care and support to patients with mental health and substance abuse disorders.
  2. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
  3. Utilize strong understanding of behavioral health principles and techniques to effectively assist patients.
  4. Implement treatment plans and interventions as directed by medical professionals.
  5. Monitor and document patient progress and behavior.
  6. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
  7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  8. Assist patients with daily living activities, including hygiene, nutrition, and medication management.
  9. Facilitate therapeutic activities and group sessions to promote recovery and coping skills.
  10. Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary.
  11. Educate patients and their families about mental health and substance abuse disorders, treatment options, and community resources.
  12. Adhere to all ethical and legal standards for patient care and confidentiality.
  13. Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance knowledge and skills in behavioral health.
  14. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  15. Collaborate with community agencies and resources to provide comprehensive care for patients.
  16. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a secure environment for patients and staff.
  17. Act as an advocate for patients and promote their rights and well-being.
  18. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members to provide quality care and support.
  19. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and case conferences.
  20. Continuously strive to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction through quality care and compassionate support.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Related Field, Such As Psychology Or Social Work.

  • At Least 1 Year Of Experience Working In A Behavioral Health Setting, Preferably With Individuals With Mental Illness And/Or Substance Use Disorders.

  • Knowledge Of And Experience With Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches, Such As Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Or Motivational Interviewing.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Build Rapport And Establish Trust With Patients And Their Families.

  • Understanding Of And Commitment To Maintaining Confidentiality And Ethical Standards In A Healthcare Setting.
