- Prepare and dispense medication accurately and efficiently in accordance with pharmacy regulations and guidelines.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to provide optimal patient care and medication therapy management.
- Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including medication histories and allergies.
- Handle and store medication in a safe and responsible manner.
- Continuously monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking medication supplies.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing any questions or concerns regarding their medication.
- Educate patients on proper medication use, dosage, and potential side effects.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Utilize electronic health record systems and other technology to accurately document and track patient information.
- Stay updated on current pharmaceutical trends, laws, and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assist in training and mentoring new pharmacy technicians and interns.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed and assist with other tasks within the pharmacy department.
Certification: The Candidate Must Hold A Current Certification As An Advanced Pharmacy Technician (Cpht) From A Nationally Recognized Organization, Such As The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience As A Pharmacy Technician In A Hospital Or Outpatient Setting Is Required, With At Least 1 Year Of Experience At An Advanced Level, Such As Compounding Or Sterile Product Preparation.
Education: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Required, And Preference Will Be Given To Candidates With Additional Education Or Training In Pharmacy Technology, Such As An Associate's Degree Or Pharmacy Technician Program.
Strong Knowledge Of Pharmacy Operations: The Ideal Candidate Will Have A Thorough Understanding Of Pharmacy Operations, Including Medication Dispensing, Inventory Management, And Regulatory Compliance. Knowledge Of Electronic Health Records (Ehr) And Pharmacy Software Systems Is Also Preferred.
Interpersonal And Communication Skills: As An Advanced Pharmacy Technician, The Candidate Must Be Able To Work Effectively With A Diverse Team Of Healthcare Professionals And Communicate Clearly And Professionally With Patients And Their Families. Attention To Detail, Time Management, And Problem-Solving Skills Are Also Essential For Success In This Role.
