Job Description

As an Assistant BIM Technician in the Civils department at Arup, you will play a crucial role in the design and construction of some of the most iconic projects around the world.   1. Utilize BIM software and tools to assist in the design and construction of civil engineering projects.
  2. Collaborate with a team of engineers and designers to create and maintain accurate and detailed BIM models.
  3. Apply knowledge of BIM principles and standards to ensure quality and consistency in project deliverables.
  4. Stay up-to-date with the latest BIM technologies and techniques to continuously improve processes and workflows.
  5. Communicate effectively with project managers and other team members to ensure project goals and deadlines are met.
  6. Perform clash detection and resolution to identify potential conflicts and mitigate design errors.
  7. Develop and maintain BIM standards and templates to be used by the team.
  8. Assist in training and mentoring junior BIM technicians to improve their skills and proficiency.
  9. Collaborate with other departments within the company to integrate BIM processes and methodologies.
  10. Participate in project meetings and provide accurate and timely updates on the status of BIM models.
  11. Ensure compliance with project requirements and adhere to company standards and procedures.
  12. Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable and resilient design solutions.
  13. Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in BIM models.
  14. Adhere to health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  15. Embrace and promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Job Qualifications
  • Proficiency In Bim Software: A Strong Understanding Of Bim Software Such As Autodesk Revit, Autocad Civil 3D, And/Or Bentley Microstation Is Essential For An Assistant Bim Technician Role At Arup. Candidates Should Be Able To Create And Manipulate 3D Models, Work With Bim Standards, And Understand How To Collaborate With Other Team Members Using Bim.

  • Knowledge Of Civil Engineering Principles: A Background In Civil Engineering Is Important For An Assistant Bim Technician At Arup. Candidates Should Have A Good Understanding Of Civil Engineering Principles And Be Able To Apply Them To Bim Workflows. This Includes Knowledge Of Construction Materials, Techniques, And Terminology.

  • Attention To Detail: As An Assistant Bim Technician, Candidates Will Be Responsible For Creating And Maintaining Accurate Models And Drawings. This Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail And The Ability To Spot And Correct Errors. Candidates Should Also Be Able To Follow Bim Standards And Guidelines To Ensure Consistency And Quality In Their Work.

  • Communication And Teamwork Skills: Bim Is A Collaborative Process, And An Assistant Bim Technician At Arup Will Need To Work Closely With Other Team Members, Including Engineers, Architects, And Project Managers. Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Education And Experience: Arup Typically Requires Candidates For An Assistant Bim Technician Role To Have A Relevant Degree In Engineering, Architecture, Or A Related Field. Previous Experience Working In A Bim Environment Is Also Preferred, As Well As Knowledge Of Arup's Specific Bim Processes And Workflows.
