  1. Develop and implement horticulture plans and strategies for the Capitol grounds, ensuring that all landscaping and gardens are maintained to the highest standards.
  2. Oversee a team of horticulture staff, providing leadership, direction, and training as needed.
  3. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the integration of horticulture plans with overall Capitol grounds maintenance and improvement projects.
  4. Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of inventory for horticulture supplies and materials.
  5. Conduct regular inspections of the Capitol grounds to identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
  6. Make recommendations for plant selection, installation, and maintenance, taking into consideration the architectural and historic significance of the Capitol.
  7. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols related to horticulture work.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors for specialized horticulture services.
  9. Create and manage budgets for horticulture projects and initiatives.
  10. Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in horticulture, and make recommendations for incorporating new techniques or technologies into the Capitol grounds.
  11. Serve as a point of contact for any horticulture-related inquiries or concerns from the public or other government agencies.
  12. Prepare reports and presentations on horticulture activities and achievements for departmental and senior management.
  13. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the horticulture team, promoting open communication and teamwork.
  14. Continuously evaluate and improve horticulture processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  15. Represent the Architect of the Capitol in horticulture-related meetings, conferences, and events.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Horticulture Or A Related Field: A Supervisory Horticulturist At Architect Of The Capitol Should Possess A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Horticulture Or A Related Field. This Education Serves As A Strong Foundation For Understanding Plant Biology, Soil Science, And Other Essential Principles Of Horticulture.

  • Supervisory Experience: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have Previous Experience In A Supervisory Or Managerial Role. This Experience Will Demonstrate The Ability To Lead And Manage A Team Effectively, Delegate Tasks, And Ensure The Successful Completion Of Projects.

  • Knowledge Of Plant Care And Maintenance: A Supervisory Horticulturist Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Plant Care And Maintenance Techniques. This Includes Knowledge Of Different Plant Species, Pest Management, Fertilization, Pruning, And Other Essential Practices To Maintain Healthy And Thriving Plants.

  • Communication And Collaboration Skills: As A Supervisor, The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills. This Includes The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Team Members, Upper Management, And Other Stakeholders, As Well As The Ability To Collaborate With Other Departments And Teams Within The Organization.

  • Budget Management: The Supervisory Horticulturist Will Be Responsible For Managing The Budget For The Horticulture Department. Therefore, The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Budget Management, Including Creating And Managing Budgets, Tracking Expenses, And Identifying Cost-Saving Opportunities.
